How are our courses delivered?

Our team of highly qualified and experienced teachers are dedicated to supporting you throughout your learning journey and helping you to achieve the results you desire through guidance and feedback which is specific to you and your goals. Our courses can be delivered:

  • Part-time in a class size of maximum 16 students as we believe in keeping our classes small to maximise teacher-student interaction. As part of social distancing measures, there will now be a maximum of nine students in each classroom. 
  • 1:1/Small Group private lessons for adults where you get to interact with your teacher more at your own pace and time at any of our four centres, at your workplace or residence in Singapore.

Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL)

Upper-intermediate You have a good level of grammatical competence. You can understand and contribute to most conversations on familiar topics, although you may make some mistakes. B2 5.5 - 6.5
Intermediate You can converse easily oneveryday matters but with a limited range of style and expressions. You can read fluently about familiar topics. B1+  4.5 - 5.0
Pre-intermediate You can produce spoken and written language in familiar situations. You have a basic control of grammatical structure but your vocabulary is limited. A2 - B1  3.5 - 4.5
Elementary You can talk about interests and everyday activities and use very basic grammatical constructions. You can understand simple messages, instructions and directions. A2 - A1 2.0 - 3.5
Beginner You have very little exposure to the language. You can use and recognise common words, greetings and expressions only. You have no grammatical knowledge yet. A1  1.0

Learning outcomes

This course is for adults who need to improve their English language skills for everyday use. The courses focus on improving oral communication and listening skills, as well as developing grammar and expanding vocabulary. 

By the end of the module, you will be able to:

  • speak English with greater accuracy and confidence
  • understand a variety of listening and written texts
  • read and understand a variety of reading texts
  • write with greater accuracy and effectiveness
  • understand and use a wider range of vocabulary.

Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL): A2, B1, B1+, B2, C1

This course is for students who wish to develop their spoken English fluency and improve their pronunciation so that they can use English more effectively in the public domain.

By the end of the course you will be able to: 

  • produce the sounds of English more accurately
  • understand and use the features of connected speech (e.g. sentence stress, linking, elision)
  • vary your intonation in questions, statements and commands
  • use appropriate register, conventions of politeness and degrees of formality
  • speak clearly and naturally so that other people can understand you
  • speak in English with greater confidence and a more natural rhythm 
  • better understand ‘authentic’ spoken English.

After successfully completing this course, you can select another speaking course or any of the Business English Skills (BES) modules at the appropriate level.
