Preparing for your IELTS test is the first step and we can help. We will support you to develop an IELTS study plan that will help to achieve your target IELTS score. You will learn with the British Council IELTS experts who will provide you with useful tips, practice, test-taking strategies and feedback on writing and speaking. You will also use authentic exam papers to practice and develop your exam skills for each area of the test. 

On these courses, you will: 

  • get a personalised study plan that will help you to achieve your target IELTS score feedback service on writing and speaking 
  • book your IELTS course and exam together and take the computer based IELTS test any day of the week.

How are our courses delivered?

Our team of highly qualified and experienced teachers are dedicated to supporting you throughout your learning journey and helping you to achieve the results you desire through guidance and feedback which is specific to you and your goals. Our courses can be delivered:

  • Part-time in a class size of maximum 16 students as we believe in keeping our classes small to maximise teacher-student interaction. As part of social distancing measures, there will now be a maximum of nine students in each classroom. 
  • 1:1/Small Group private lessons for adults where you get to interact with your teacher more at your own pace and time at any of our four centres, at your workplace or residence in Singapore.

Pre-intermediate You can produce spoken and written language in familiar situations. You have a basic control of grammatical structure but your vocabulary is limited. A2 - B1  3.5 - 4.5
Elementary You can talk about interests and everyday activities and use very basic grammatical constructions. You can understand simple messages, instructions and directions. A2 - A1 2.0 - 3.5
Beginner You have very little exposure to the language. You can use and recognise common words, greetings and expressions only. You have no grammatical knowledge yet. A1  1.0

Learning outcomes

This is for students with a high level of English but with little time to prepare for the Academic or the General IELTS test.

The course does not offer the comprehensive instruction of a full 12 week IELTS preparation course, but it does aim to help people with a limited amount of study time achieve a higher grade in the IELTS test

By the end of the course you will be able to: 

  • write appropriate text types with greater accuracy in a suitable register
  • answer comprehension questions on written texts as found in the IELTS test
  • perform with greater confidence in the oral component of the examination
  • understand English spoken by native speakers at natural speed and answer questions as required by the IELTS test.

Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL): B1+ and above

This course is for students who are planning to take the IELTS test for academic or general purposes. The course will help participants to score well in the IELTS test by focusing on developing the key language skills required for success.

By the end of the course you will be able to: 

  • respond to typical IELTS writing prompts more effectively 
  • interpret and summarise graphs, tables, charts and processes 
  • write a discursive or opinion essay
  • write more accurately and with a greater range of vocabulary
  • read and interpret the types of academic and general texts used in the IELTS test
  • understand the type of listening texts used in the IELTS test
  • perform with greater confidence in the oral component of the IELTS test.
